The information to be given to applicants.
The assessors primary role is in evaluating the applicants suitability as a foster carer and providing a detailed description of those skills or areas which need to be developed. It is also important to help applicants provide suitable information to give as much a full picture of their skills and knowledge as possible.
The Assessment Procedure
Applicant enquires and receives initial information
Applicant confirms interest by phone or by returning a
registration of Interest Form.

Decision given if we are to proceed
CRB/Local Authority/Medicals/References/other checks to begin
Applicant is allocated a Social Worker to start the assessment
Assessment process continues
Review of assessment
Skills to Foster Training course
Feedback from Skills to Foster Trainers and inform the assessor
Provide feedback to applicant and invite his /her comments
Form F 1 assessment written and read by applicants
Signed if in agreement with content
Form F and checks given to Independent Panel Members one week prior to panel
Panel makes recommendation
Ratified by Service Provider
If not approved will be told why and whether they can be presented to panel again if they make specified changes.
Post-approval agency procedures implemented, e.g. further information carers, supervising social worker allocated
Form F Assessment Report Used in Consideration of:
